Excelsior!! I'm Axton Kahler, Mr. Kahler to my 400+ middle school art students, Daddy to my 3 kids, and "that guy with a really weird name who draws cute things" to many others. You may have seen me alongside Jesse Kiefer at Omaha area conventions and pop culture celebrations, bringing to life the odd and whimsical. I love working with mash ups and interpreting weird ideas as fun, original art pieces and cartoons. While cartooning occupies a lot of my creative time, I do also enjoy working in graphite, watercolor, and acrylic paint.
I frequently get asked "When did you discover art?" That question really only has one answer; I didn't discover art, I discovered myself because of art. There has never been a time in my life that creating and appreciating art hasn't been vitally important to my well being. The philosopher Nietzsche may have said it best, "We have art so that we may not perish by the truth". There is magic in art. Magic in sharing your creative vision with the world around you. Magic in holding your creative vision selfishly close. Magic in building an understanding of someone else's point of view because you found some connection in their creative vision. Magic in seeing beyond the mundane, routine world around you. Magic in creating and taking time to enjoy other's creations. Share in that magic my friends.
